More than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition each year — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In many developing nations these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can’t afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life. Operation Smile provides free life changing facial maxillary surgeries, healing their smiles and bringing hope for a better future for these children and their families.
Albuquerque Operation Smile Student Associations at Cibola High School, Bosque School, and Rio Rancho High School raise money and awareness for the cause of Operation Smile International. Students participate in a cause bigger than themselves while developing valuable leadership skills.
The Albuquerque Operation Smile Student Association's largest fundraiser is an annual auction and reception. This year’s event, presented by Shamrock Foods, will feature music and foods from around the world. Silent and live auction items will include decorative art, jewelry, luxury packages, and a variety of other items for the more practical guests.
All monies raised are given directly to Operation Smile International to
fund international medical missions and the costs associated with facial
maxillary surgeries.
